Mr. Ashok Sawhney,

Chairman, Ashok Sawhney Foundation

Ashok Sawhney has many talents: a visionary entrepreneur, philanthropist, poet, author, opinion maker and community leader. Over the years, he has earned respect as an inspirational speaker, motivating people from all walks of life with his creativity and passion.
He was pivotal in shaping India’s wristwatch dial manufacturing industry and laid the foundation for achieving world-class excellence.
Today, his group company exports state-of-the-art watch dials worldwide. Not stopping there, Mr. Sawhney ventured into the lifestyle space, building Swiss Military, a Swiss Brand, into a renowned international brand offering value-for-money products. He is the Chairman of Swiss Military Worldwide, which has a presence across cultures and genders in over 26 countries. The brand’s growth story is inspiring, leading to its listing on the stock exchange. Always ahead of his time, Mr Sawhney launched a venture to manufacture RFID-enabled e-seals, leveraging technology to promote productivity and efficiency in business practices.

For Mr. Sawhney, wealth and intellect have always been tools for bettering society. Guided by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy,
“I slept and dreamt that life was all joy. I woke and saw life was all service. I served acted and behold service was a joy.” he established the Ashok Sawhney Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation working to uplift the most vulnerable sections of society. The Foundation envisions a world where empathy and empowerment transform lives. He firmly believes, ‘He is not rich who has much, but he who gives much.’ Under the aegis of the Foundation, a Vridhashram (old age home) in Rangpuri Pahari, New Delhi, provides free care, food, and shelter to approximately 70 men and women who have no one else to depend on. Collaborating with the NIIT Foundation, the Suman Sawhney Multi-Skill Development Centre offers free skill development programs to empower underserved youth. Suman Sawhney Healthcare Centre provides free outpatient care, free medicine and diagnostic services to promote wellness and easy healthcare accessibility.

Beyond his business and philanthropic pursuits, Mr. Sawhney has supported education, character-building, and communal harmony. He has worked closely with the DAV Society, Guru Teg Bahadur International Trust and Dr. Zakir Hussain Trust at Aligarh Muslim University. Through literary and community interactions, he has promoted unity and harmony. His associations with organisations like the Mahatma Gandhi International Trust and Adeeb International Sahir Ludhianvi Cultural Academy reflect his dedication to cultural and social upliftment. Proficient in five languages, including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, English, and French, Mr. Sawhney has an exceptional ability to connect with diverse audiences. His creativity
finds expression in his writing, which spans poetry, essays, humour, culinary heritage, philosophy, inspirational stories, and reflections on life. He has authored 13 widely acclaimed books, reflecting his intellect, creativity, and vision for a better world.
His works reflect his vast repertoire of interests and life experiences. His books include ‘Surbhi Suman’ a blend of his poetry and masterpieces from Urdu poets. ‘Kya, Kyun aur Kaise’ (also published in English as Why) explores life’s questions. ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ – A thoughtful collection capturing human emotions and existence. ‘Humour Being and Kuch Pal Hansi Ke Sang’ – Laughter-filled takes on everyday life. ‘Asli Paapi Kaun.’ He ventured to author two recipe books for vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Recipes have century-old Kashmiri, North and South Indian, and international cousins. He has recently co-authored a tribute to the phenomenal contributions to the humanity and sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus entitled ‘Lions of Faith.’ He has a strong social media presence, and many followers enjoy his stories and the ghazals he performs.
Ashok Sawhney’s contributions to entrepreneurship, literature, and philanthropy have earned him numerous awards, including:
• Udyog Patra by the Institute of Trade and Industrial Development (2003).
• Adeeb International Award (2008).
• Lifetime Achievement Award by Trade Post and Samay Bharti (2012).
• Samay Ratna Award for his leadership in the All India Watch Association
(2013).
• Globe Platinum Award for “Leader Par Excellence in Global Leadership” by the
World Business Conclave, Hong Kong (2016).
• CSR Lifetime Achievement Award (2018).
Mr. Ashok Sawhney’s life is a remarkable testament to the impact of innovation, generosity, and the power of the written word. He continues to inspire countless individuals to create meaningful change in the world. His son, Aman, aptly describes him as ‘a billion-dollar man’ not for material wealth but for his kindness, resilience, and faith. Aman reflects on his father’s ability to inspire through wisdom, humour, and unwavering care for others, making him a true treasure to all who know him.

Mrs Suman Sawhney
(October 18, 1947 – March 29, 2023)

Suman Sawhney was the woman behind Ashok Sawhney’s success in various fields and the inspiration behind his social welfare initiatives. With shared values and a belief that wealth should be used to empower the underprivileged, she played a vital role in actualising their philosophy of giving back. Deeply rooted in family values, she also celebrated Indian culture and traditions uniquely.
An avid reader and environmentalist, she was passionate about green living, nurturing a vibrant array of plants, and generously sharing her farm’s produce to promote healthy lifestyles. A connoisseur of art, her curated collection reflected her deep respect for diverse cultures and traditions.
Suman shaped its initiatives as a founding trustee of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation. The Suman Sawhney Healthcare Centre, Old Age Home, and Suman Sawhney Multi-Skill Vocational Centre are enduring tributes to her vision and dedication to helping the underserved. Her compassion, values, and tireless efforts continue to inspire all who knew her.

Aman Sawhney

Managing Director, AAA Products Pvt Ltd.
Aman Sawhney is a dynamic leader and entrepreneur, spearheading AAA Products Pvt Ltd. as its Managing Director.
He completed his schooling at St. Columba’s High School, New Delhi, excelling in academics and sports and earning numerous accolades. An alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi, he graduated in 1990 with an Honours degree in Commerce, ranking among the top two percent of his class. He further honed his business acumen at the Owen School of Management, Vanderbilt University, USA, where he graduated in 1992 with the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma distinction, awarded to the top five percent of students in top-tier business schools.
Returning to India, Aman mastered the art and science of wristwatch dial manufacturing and marketing. In 1997, he established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that produced precision, high-quality watch dials for export. The facility employs over 500 people and is steadfastly committed to Kaizen principles. Aman’s clientele includes renowned international brands like Fossil and Timex, Swiss manufacturers, and Indian leaders such as Titan and Maxima. His company has repeatedly earned “Best Vendor” awards from domestic and international clients.
Beyond his professional achievements, Aman is passionate about sports and fitness. A disciplined athlete, he has represented his school and college in football, squash, and table tennis. Notably, he captained the Indian team at the World Amateur Tenpin Bowling Championships in Abu Dhabi (1999) and the World Corporate Golf Cup in South Africa. He was also part of the Corporate Golf World Cup-winning team in 2010, represented India at the BMW Golf World Cup (2012, South Africa), and competed in the Mercedes Golf World Cup (2018, Germany). In 2024, he was a playing member of the team that finished runners-up in the Corporate World Cup.
As a trustee of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation, Aman is actively involved in its initiatives, contributing his time and energy to its growth and progress. His dedication to excellence and multifaceted pursuits reflect his commitment to professional success and social responsibility.

Anuradha Sawhney

Born and raised in New Delhi, Anuradha Sawhney graduated from Hindu College, Delhi University, with a degree in Political Science. She later completed her Master’s in Marketing and Advertising and briefly worked in the advertising industry before pursuing her passion for style and fashion. This led her to launch her label, ‘Sitara’, which specialises in Indian ethnic wear.
Anuradha is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys running marathons, trekking, spending time outdoors, and staying closely connected to nature. She is deeply committed to social causes and is an active member and volunteer with the Angels Network. This charity supports children’s homes, old age homes, and transgender community groups.
Her dedication to social work extends to the Ashok Sawhney Foundation, where she leverages her network to spread awareness and garner support, making meaningful contributions to its initiatives.

Anuj Sawhney

CEO Swiss Military

Anuj Sawhney, an alumnus of St. Columba’s High School, New Delhi, graduated with an Honours degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1995. He then pursued a Master’s in Management from the Owen School of Management, Vanderbilt University, USA, specialising in Operations Logistics and International Marketing. Returning to India, Anuj joined the family business, bringing the expertise gained during his studies.
Following his passion for acting, Anuj trained under renowned mentors like Barry John and completed dance and film acting courses. This preparation led to his successful foray into the entertainment industry, where he starred in films such as Nayee Padosan, Fun2shh, Chingaari, Tom Dick Harry, Naina, Life Mein Kabhi and many more. He also featured in over 150 TV commercials and music videos, earning recognition in the Hindi film and advertising industries.
In 2001, Anuj returned to the family business to oversee Quality Control, Vendor Development, and Supply Chain Management at Swiss Military Products Worldwide. He became Managing Director in 2008, transforming the brand into a premium
lifestyle label with the tagline, ‘World-class products at affordable prices.’ Today, Swiss Military spans over 700 retail stores and has a presence in 26-plus countries, offering an extensive range of products, including travel gear, apparel, leather accessories,
electronics, cosmetics, and home appliances. Anuj has driven the brand’s global growth through inspiring leadership, innovation, rigorous market research, stringent quality standards, and efficient inventory management.
As a fitness enthusiast, Anuj enjoys swimming, speed biking, trekking, and exploring challenging routes and remote destinations in India and abroad. He is also a music lover who participates in music groups and is a creative writer who writes thought-provoking pieces inspired by daily life. He has a following for a podcast, ‘Big on Small Talk.’
Anuj actively supports the Ashok Sawhney Foundation, contributing his time and resources to its initiatives and furthering the family’s legacy of creating tangible social impact.

Ashita Sawhney

Ashita Sawhney graduated in English Literature from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi, and holds a Master’s Diploma in French from Alliance Française de Delhi. In her early career, she contributed to the marketing and sales teams of British Airways and Air France, gaining valuable corporate experience.
Driven by her creative instincts and entrepreneurial spirit, Ashita co-founded ‘Kaihaan Products, a joint venture specialising in exclusive fashion accessories. Under her leadership, the brand successfully catered to multiple stores and clients across India.
A yoga and wellness enthusiast, Ashita is deeply committed to promoting holistic well-being and actively advocates for a healthy lifestyle across all age groups. Her passion for social impact is evident in her efforts to empower women and children from underserved communities. She is actively involved in various initiatives and fundraising campaigns dedicated to their upliftment.
She currently serves as a director on the board of Swiss Military Consumer Goods, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
As a trustee of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation, Ashita supports its activities by mobilising awareness and garnering support, furthering its mission to create a more equitable society.

The Ashok Sawhney Foundation results from several distinguished individuals who shared vision and inspiration. Their desire to serve society inspired these brilliant minds to unite and turn the foundation’s concept into a tangible reality. The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the motivation and guidance of Dr LM Singhvi, Mr BL Joshi, and Mr Joginder Singh, which eventually led to the actualisation of the concept and framework of the social initiative.

Mrs Kamla Singhvi
Mrs Kamla Singhvi, wife of the late Dr L.M. Singhvi (India’s Vibgyor Man), leads the DR L.M. Singhvi Foundation, which aims to create a significant societal impact through education. Her unique vision and guidance inspire and direct the vision of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation.

Major General Umong Sethi, AVSM, VSM (Veteran)
Major General Umong Sethi has a distinguished military background and expertise in skill development and NGO work. His involvement with strategic think tanks has led to notable contributions to national security. He mentors the conceptualisation, planning, and execution of initiatives of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation.

SUPPORT TEAM

Mr Vijay Kalra

Vijay Kalra is a core pillar of the Ashok Sawhney Foundation. A certified Chartered Accountant, he is an integral team member who designs and plans the Foundation’s initiatives. In addition to managing financial affairs and performing oversight functions, he provides essential backend and logistical support, ensuring the smooth execution of the Foundation’s activities.
For functional purposes, the three entities have separate on-site support teams. Each has a manager and trained support staff comprising caregivers, nursing assistants, trainers, and housekeeping personnel. Everyone is completely aligned with the entity’s core values, and there are SOPs to guide their functioning.
